Dongshui Yi Village

cultural regeneration

Reflecting the past, present and future, this project supports the adjacent Hu Guang Hall - a recently restored 300 year old World Heritage Site - and one of the last remaining Song Dynasty river-city gates of Chongqing. Re-working the plan, facades and public spaces of a 20 year old development, the project transforms underused artificially historic buildings into a cheerful, successful,  modern visitor attraction. Including café’s, restaurants, galleries, cultural sculptures the project is comprehensively re-landscaped with paving, seating and planting.
