Matthew Priestman, founding partner of Priestman Architects, is an United Kingdom registered Architect and member of the Royal Institute of British Architects with extensive experience of successful architecture, planning, landscape and interior design projects. During his 35 year career he has worked on diverse projects in the UK, Europe, Russia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia, China and South Korea.
He is a Director of the Hong Kong arm of the RIBA, founding committee member of the Hong Kong and Shanghai RIBA Chapters, and representative of the RIBA in South West China.
Matthew has taught architecture and urbanism at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he was also appointed External Examiner, the London Bartlett School of Architecture and many other schools of architecture in Europe and Greater China. He is a co-founder of the Mad.Lab, RIBA and Bartlett workshops in Chongqing and has been recently appointed to a Chinese government judging panel for public projects.
His project, design, and written work has been widely published. Currently he is a PhD candidate at the University of Westminster, London and participant in the Royal Melbourne (Australia) Institute of Technology’s Practice Research program. Matthew’s many current interests in architecture are explored in the phenomena of the new city during China’s breathtaking development.
